Mark Twain Middle School is one of just a few using the Montessori program in the United States. Multisensory, interdisciplinary approach to instruction provides opportunities for individual, group work, daily and long term assignments, peer teaching and self-reflection. Multiage classes in seventh and eighth grade allows for individual pacing of instruction when possible and appropriate. All students take a foreign language to promote effective global communication Students’ intellectual and social development is combined with a strong skills program around five common themes that are embedded across academic subjects referred to as the Areas of Interaction.
Mark Twain Middle School applies diverse and comprehensive academic programs that provide each student with a strong foundation in the core curricula areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The physical education, health, music, art, library and technology programs are also an exciting part of each student’s instruction. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are emphasized, and promote excellence and lifelong learning.
