Life Sciences Secondary School

About

Life Sciences Secondary School was founded in 1998 in collaboration with Mt. Sinai School of Medicine to encourage minority students to prepare early for careers in medicine. Students are placed in internships with doctors and technicians at Mt. Sinai and get solid instruction in the school's newly renovated science labs equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Responsible behavior by students, teachers, other district personnel, parents and other visitors is essential to achieving this goal. The staff and teachers work right along with parents to provide one of the best teaching experiences for pupils. They have a long-standing set of expectations for conduct on school property and at school functions. These expectations are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect, citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity. Life Sciences Secondary School curriculum is in close alignment with New York State Learning Standards and teachers at each grade level meet frequently to review and assess curriculum and plans.
