J.H.S. 278 Marine Park is the Junior High School number 278 serving grade levels 06, 07, 08 and SE working collaboratively with students, parents and teachers to achieve academic excellence by providing an atmosphere that recreates the former concept of school as an extension of each student's own home.

This school embraces all abilities and learning styles so no child is left behind when it comes to study that also includes extracurricular activities including Homework Help, School Dances, Theatre Arts Program, After school Sports Program, Academic Remediation, Jazz, Chorus, Marching Band, Concert, Yearbook, Olympics, Project Arts and Enrichment After School Program.

J.H.S. 278 Marine Park also provides special programs such as Johns Hopkins Math and Earth Science and Sequential Math, Olympic Academy, Alternative Scholarship, Extended Day Academics, Foreign Language Proficiency, Park Prep Academy for the gifted a CIG (Center for the Intellectually Gifted) in partnership with the Brooklyn District Attorney and Marine Park Civic Association among others.
