The environment at Valley Stream South High School provides one that will build responsibility, productivity, and involved citizens who possess self-esteem, a love of learning and respect for self and others. The goal of Valley Stream South High School is to provide students with several opportunities to learn and grow with varied and wide-ranging courses with an array of extra-curricular clubs, activities, and sports. They encourage each student to become involved in all they have to offer.

Valley Stream South High School strives to ensure all students are met with challenges while providing a safe and peaceful environment whether they are in the classroom, performing on stage, or playing on a sports field. Every student as well as staff and teachers treat one another with respect.
