University Neighborhood High School is committed to providing a quality education that will allow each student to develop their potential while excelling at their level of ability. The schools missions statements explains their concept by stating they provide a friendly, safe, and academically enriching environment so every student will grow their individual abilities and potential. They strive to offer every student all the necessary tools to aid in the individual development as well as academically. Students not only learn from books but also develop self-esteem and respect for themselves and others. The administration and staff work together to ensure that each student has the chance to possess characteristics of lifelong learners that are an active part of society as well as being compassionate for the world around them. Along with this, students are taught to be knowledgeable, self-thinkers, inquirers, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced, communicators, reflective, and risk-takers.
