P.S. 253 Oceanview School students should be challenged to think for themselves. It is the hope of the educators to create lifelong learners who continue to grow and explore long after their last test is taken. The administration and staff serve to model the values and character they expect for students: honesty, commitment, fairness and compassion. This school offers a wide range of academic programs, extracurricular activities and support programs that allow the students to develop all facets of their skills and interests. It is not uncommon to see a variety of student projects on display. Technology integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum which is a critical component of an engaged learning environment. Their curriculum documents provide the space for a tie between technology use and existing classroom instruction, but there is a need to ensure that all students are provided equal opportunity to use technology as a tool for learning.
