P.S. 229 Dyker School staff includes a reading teacher, speech teacher, psychologist, social worker, and a nurse. They provide itinerant services for children who require visual or auditory training and for those who need physical or occupational therapy. Technology is integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum which is a critical component of an engaged learning environment. Curriculum documents provide the space for a tie between technology use and existing classroom instruction, but there is a need to ensure that all students are provided equal opportunity to use technology as a tool for learning. The third grade curriculum provides students with an opportunity to learn about the social, political, geographic, economic, and historical characteristics of the world’s peoples and cultures. P.S. 229 Dyker School invites the parents to join them in building a partnership of community, parents, and school preparing citizens of tomorrow.
