P.S. 224 Hale A. Woodruff School welcomes parents to be active in their child’s success and offers an assortment of opportunities for parents to participate. The school knows that all students are capable of learning, regardless of their abilities, race, color, national origin or creed, and works to make sure this responsibility is met. Other goals and philosophies include teaching students to empower themselves to be able to handle challenges in their lives and make them valuable citizens in a democratic society. Core subjects to meet the needs and talents of the student population including the basic educational needs of Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Students have reading, writing and mathematics daily to emphasize skills needed to meet the standards. Their science program is hands-on and based on the use of manipulative materials while the social studies curriculum is enriched by the logistics of the community.
