Longfellow Middle School educators realize that major sociological factors are at work which contributes to the child's potential success or failure. This realization should enable teachers to better empathize with the difficulties, fears, and insecurities which characterize many middle school students today. Longfellow Middle School educates approximately 600 students each year. It keeps a staff of 60 teachers, three administrators, an Academic Support Coordinator, three guidance counselors, a school psychologist, three social workers, an attendance teacher, a speech clinician and nine teaching assistants.

Longfellow Middle School educators believe in exhibiting genuine care and respect for each individual student in a learning environment where students respect themselves and others. They further believe that all members of the Caring Community are vital and necessary in contributing to the educational experiences for student learning. These members include staff, parents, students, community members, as well as district and building level administration.

This school has strong PTA support with target goals to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
