John Bowne High School is located at 63-25 Main Street Flushing, NY and it provides for education for grades 9-12 in Queens County. Effective instruction is a shared activity for the school to be successful, faculty must participate in the school-decision making process not only in the areas of instructional program design, curriculum development, and materials selection but also in peer selection, support, and evaluation. Individuals have different needs and talents and achieve at different rates. Therefore, multiple forms of assessment must provide a variety of opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to demonstrate what they know and can do.

The school serves a diverse, multilingual student population of recent immigrants to the United States. They seek to provide each student with a language-rich learning experience that moves them to a point where they can read, write and communicate effectively in English and their native language. The students will learn to use their minds well to critically analyze and respond to complex real-world issues. They will use what they learn to become successful academically and professionally and to become advocates for themselves and their communities.

The schools educational technology applications will deepen student engagement and improve student achievement by enabling them to access and analyze information, solve problems, collaborate with others, and communicate their thoughts and ideas. Local support with target goals helps to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
