I.S. 232 Winthrop community takes pride in its school programs. The administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to the cause of student achievement as reflected in the success rate of students meeting and/or exceeding the state standards. The idea is to provide an environment for each student that will fully challenge his or her cognitive, emotional, physical, and social needs. It is imperative to identify what each student knows and what skills he or she can demonstrate. Once this has been accomplished then additional growth will take place. The instructional direction is to integrate technology into all phases of the academic curriculum. The effective use of technology in standards-based, curriculum rich lessons will achieve high standards for students. This state of the art technological environment includes Internet access, wireless local area Network, enhanced peripherals, and web-based instructional delivery systems. The curriculum is continually being reviewed, evaluated, and adjusted to meet the needs of students. The staff analyzes state and local test results as a means of changing curriculum and instruction.
