Hutchinson School is supervised by the Pelham Union Free School District Board of education. This School wants all students to be safe, engaging environment that values all members of the community and encourages them to pursue their full potential as life-long learners and respectful citizens. The teachers make every effort to incorporate literacy learning in all areas of learning: social studies, science, math, health, physical education, and the arts.

Parents with children attending Hutchinson School enjoy the fact the district have small classrooms, caring, dedicated teachers, and the desire of the school for parent involvement. Parents are welcome to visit anytime and even enjoy eating lunch with their child or help in the classroom. The staff and teachers adhere to a quality education and do not allow others to interfere in the educational process such as disruptions.

It is not uncommon to see a variety of student projects on display in the Learning Center throughout the school year. In addition to social studies, math, science and language arts, students participate in a variety of special area classes including: reading, art, music, computers, technology, home and careers, physical education, band and chorus.
