Hartnett Elementary School is located at Academy Street Truxton, NY. This school serves the community of Truxton for its education needs for grades K through 6 in Cortland County, New York. Grades K-6 attends here and staff of 30 full and part-time individuals working with students in various capacities. This Elementary school was named after Miss Marion H. Hartnett, a former teacher, principal, and superintendent. Students enjoy wonderful opportunities in vocal and instrumental music, art, athletics, and an outstanding computer lab.

A heavy emphasis is also placed on Character Education as Hartnett Elementary School works to help families instill honesty, caring, respect, and good citizenship into the hearts of all students.

The Village of Homer is located at the intersections of US Route 11 and State Routes 41 and 90. The layout of the Village with its central Green surrounded by churches and schools reflects the New England heritage of the first settlers. Throughout the large historic district of the Village which is on the National Register are dozens of elegant, well-maintained homes built in an array of 19th Century styles. There are also several handsome public and commercial buildings at the center of the Village.
