Frederick Douglass Academy has a vision is to provide a learning community where all students become active problem solvers, self-confident, highly inquisitive, function effectively in the community and develop a sense of pride through cultural awareness. The teachers are committed to involving all stakeholders to assist in the development of an academic program that increases students' reading achievement through professional development. Student centered instruction to improve academic performance in the area of literacy in order for all students to become proficient readers, writers, listeners and speakers. Frederick Douglass Academy officials are actively working with various goals for ensuring the best education while providing a safe nurturing environment for all students in the school. Goals include financial, instructional, facilities, personnel, and community. With all staff, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community working together Frederick Douglass Academy endeavors to prepare students for life.
