Albert Leonard Middle School is organized into three Houses. The House organization creates smaller learning communities that give children a more centered approach and opportunities for each individual to achieve their highest potential. Sixth and seventh grades are clustered according to each academic discipline, such as math, social studies, science, reading, and language. Instructors teach at the same time in a collaborative program which inspires flexibility and reduces redundancy. Seventh graders focus on a wide variety of foreign languages studies, including French, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. Social interaction is also encouraged, fostering better communicational skills, a sharing of ideas, information, and cultures. The arts are explored through theater, dance, and music, with an instrumental program.
The physical education, health, music, art, library and technology programs are also an exciting part of each student’s instruction. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are emphasized, and promote excellence and lifelong learning. Teachers attend to literacy and language arts skills of each student, ensuring their ability to read, write and think critically in all curricular areas including math, science, social studies, art, music, library skills, and physical education. This school has strong PTA support with target goals to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
