Port Jefferson Union Free School District is an outstanding school system that provides excellent learning opportunities for students. The Board is committed to cultivating students to develop preferred moral, ethical, and cultural values, to stimulate and expand a continual learning process. Extracurricular activities are offered whenever possible to improve the academic program. The Board invites parents and teachers to recommend their knowledge in helping to develop a school atmosphere that is academically challenging, psychologically satisfying and socially rewarding for students at every grade level. Positive parental involvement is essential to student achievement, and thus encourages such involvement in school educational planning and operations. Parental involvement may take place either in the classroom or during extra-curricular activities. Port Jefferson places considerable attention to programs designed to improve the teaching staff’s ability to address the range of needs and learning styles that a diverse school system such as they educate.
