This school district provides a learning environment geared toward teaching students personal values such as, being self-motivated, life-long learners, socially responsible and serious thinkers are among many of the values and attitudes the district wants to relay. District #17 is filled with many pursuits of education such as schools for Music & Theater, Business & Technology, Science, and plenty of other career choices. While New York City District #17 faces many challenges such as its need to update some of its school buildings and lack of funding, school officials and the community are working together to address these issues.
