The Monroe-Woodbury Central School District is located approximately 50 miles north of New York City and geographically includes the towns of Monroe, Harriman, most of Woodbury and parts of Tuxedo, Chester and Blooming Grove. Monroe-Woodbury serves a population of approximately 30,000 with 65% employed outside the area. Its unique location in the "Lake Region" of Southern Orange County at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains offers the charm of a clean, rural countryside within easy driving distance of New York City.

The community has traditionally offered outstanding support for the school district. Quality education is a major community priority. The Monroe Police Department works in conjunction with the School District to instruct both its elementary and middle school students in the D.A.R.E. Program.
