Middletown City Schools

Middletown City School District is located at 223 Wisner Avenue Ext Middletown, NY and it serves grades PK-12 in Orange County. The Enlarged City School District of Middletown’s Board of Education establishes policy, has the fiscal responsibility to provide a budget and hires the Superintendent of Schools. Nine district residents make up the Board in Middletown, and each member serves a five-year term. A local board of education is an agency of New York State that is governed by NYS law and the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.

At the primary level, the student will develop independent, critical thought with creative solutions to artistic problems. Students will gain self-esteem while exploring the grammar of the arts. Standards-based learning & Arts in Education (AIE) programming are allowing students to participate in educational activities linked to specific New York State standards. In addition, students at the high school level can receive college credit even before graduation by taking college-level courses offered as part of the curriculum.

This year Middletown launched several new programs like Project Lead the Way (PLTW) at Middletown High School and Twin Towers Middle School, and the Middletown Freshman Academy at the high school. Middletown is also one of 56 school districts in New York State to develop an educational enhancement plan, known as a Contract for Excellence, with the State Education Department (SED) to use additional state aid to improve student achievement.
