Lindenhurst Union Free School District Board consists of nine community residents who are elected by the community to serve over-lapping terms of three years without pay. The School Board is comprised of unpaid officials elected by the voters to take the formal legal actions and establish the basic policies for the conduct of the schools. The chief executive officer of the District is trusted with the duty of seeing that the Board policies and education laws are adhered to by the staff. When it comes to sports, Lindenhurst Union Free School District encourages extra-curricular activities for students. Athletics is an extension of the classroom and contributes greatly to the overall education of students. Athletics teaches students qualities that are necessary to achieve throughout their lives including, self-discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitiveness.
