Farmingdale Union Free School District English Language Arts curriculum is based are foundational to the kind of learning that enables students to become innovators and lifelong learners. The English Department's and Reading Department's philosophy embraces the concepts of teaming, interdisciplinary studies, multiculturalism, and technology and believes academic and social success depend on the incorporation of these concepts into its curriculum. The Foreign Language Department offers courses in four languages beginning in grade 6 with Introduction to Foreign Languages.

The Farmingdale School District is committed to the development and implementation of an appropriate education for students with disabilities who reside in the district. The Committee on Preschool Special Education and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and appropriate Subcommittees on Special Education are established for the purpose of evaluating students suspected of having disabilities and for placement of students with disabilities in appropriate programs.
