The Catskill Central School District public school system provides quality education for the citizens of Cairo for grades K through 12. Catskill Central has a mission to provide all children with the opportunity to fully develop their academic and creative potential and to assist them in becoming mature, humane, responsible and productive members of society.

The Board of Education is the governing body of the Catskill Central School District. The nine-members of the Board volunteer their services without pay for three-year terms. Members are elected at-large by school district voters at the annual election held by New York State law.

The Catskill Community is quaint and historic people enjoy visiting shops of Main Street, enjoy fresh local produce at the Farmer's Market, view the scenic Hudson River from Catskill Point, journey the creeks in a canoe, and take a walking tour of a restored 19th century village.

The Catskill Central School District is nested in Greene County in the great Northern Catskills is known as one of the premier winter destinations on the East Coast, only 2-1/2 hours North of New York City, and an easy drive from New Jersey and Connecticut . Hunter and Windham mountains offer you some of the finest skiing and snowboarding in the Northeast.
