Canisteo-Greenwood Schools

Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District is located at 84 Greenwood Street Canisteo, NY serving grades Pk-12 in Steuben County. The Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District believes that the primary purpose of an effective school is teaching for learning. We believe that all students can learn and can achieve at optimum levels of academic performance, regardless of their previous academic performance, family background, socio-economic status, race or gender. The District will foster positive growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes.

The Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District is a newly formed district. As of July 1, 2004, the former Canisteo Central School District annexed the former Greenwood Central District. The district was originally configured in such a way that the high school building in the village of Canisteo provided instruction to all district students’ grades 9-12. The elementary building in the village of Canisteo provided instruction to all Canisteo students in grade pre-K through 6. The school building in Greenwood provided instruction to all district students’ grades 7-8 and Greenwood elementary
students in grades pre-K through 6.

Beginning July 1, 2007, the elementary programs were reconfigured so that the building in the Canisteo villages now serves all district students in grade Pre-K through 4, and the Greenwood building serves all district students 5-8. The district has been through much change in the past three years and currently does not have an individual to serve as technology coordinator.
