Washington West Elementary School is located at 1626 Washington Street Olean, NY. Parents are pleased to see small class sizes, positive community support, individual attention, and encouragement where all students and staff members strive for excellence. Grades Pre-Kindergarten through the 5th are taught basic core curriculum from a dedicated and talented faculty made up of teachers and other staff members. There are several educational programs that are being used with the goal of encouraging the growth and development of every student’s personal interests and capabilities. Other classes include; music, art, physical education, library, and computer lab.
Washington West Elementary School knows technology is very important to learn so even at grade level 3 they are learning how to touch type with proper technique. The teachers and other staff officials work hard for all students to be safe, engaging environment that values all members of the community and encourages them to pursue their full potential as life-long learners and respectful citizens. The teachers make every effort to incorporate literacy learning in all areas of learning: social studies, science, math, health, physical education, and the arts. The ADHD program is being used in grades 2 and 3, Title I reading, resource room, speech, a multi-age blended classroom offered to the top 1-2% of district students in grades 3-5 and self-contained special education classrooms with mainstreaming opportunities.
