Historically, Wayne County was originally included in lands of Ontario and Seneca Counties; it became a separate county on April 11, 1823. The county’s history actually begins long before 1823. Some of Wayne County’s early arrivals were veterans of the Revolution who came to take up claims in the Military Tract. Wayne County offers a distinctive blend of urban amenities that include; Golf, Parks, Skiing, Hunting, Chimney Bluffs, Seaway Trail, Snowmobile, Erie Canal and Nature adventure.
