Art is rich at this Middle school and the 8th grade Accelerated Art course is designed to provide students with opportunities to further their experiences in learning about art. This course offers several advanced units of study, and is meant to direct students toward some of the art courses offered at the high school. The course follows the Discipline Based Art Education philosophy in that it stresses four concepts: Art History, Art Production, Aesthetics, and Art Criticism. The course is geared for students that have an interest and some advanced ability in art as recognized by their previous instructors. For students to be considered for this program, they must complete an application.
The staff is an outstanding group of professionals committed to the children of this school. The parents and community are willing to help and are very supportive. Teachers know students can be very successful as everyone all work together in building bridges to excellence.
